ICG Foundation actively works with charities around the UK, including Action for Children, whose vision is that every child and young person has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.
Action for Children protects and supports children and young people, providing practical and emotional care and support, ensuring their voices are heard, and campaigning to bring lasting improvements to their lives.
Action for Children services Pastens Residential Care in Oxted, that aims to provide a stable, secure, enabling and nurturing environment for young people aged 5-19 years. Pastens provides residential care for young people with profound and multiple disabilities, including communication difficulties, sensory impairment, complex health needs and challenging behaviour.
Each child is assessed in order to develop an individual care plan with clear outcomes for their journey. Pastens offers warmth, compassion and attends to understanding each one’s individual needs. They support young people in decision-making by developing life skills such as, personal care, cooking and communication.
Due to local authority cuts in recent years Pastens have had a significant gap in funding. With the help of ICG Foundation they have managed to offer the children opportunities to assist with learning and development. Pastens were looking to provide the children with extra communication tools and tablets, particularly to aid the non-verbal children.
ICG Foundation has donated funds towards 6 iPads for the young people at Pastens, who now have been able to contact their family in a lot more accessible way. The iPads have been a huge asset, providing enhanced education software, as well as allowing the children to enjoy their favourite entertainment. Sam from Action for Children adds that this has all resulted in happier, safer and more enriched children.
